This is completely ridiculous! I think the part that is most disturbing is the notion that EPA is the ‘destroyer’ of jobs as they regulate greenhouse gas emissions.

The article later states that “by passing this bill, we can put Congress back in charge of setting the energy and environmental policies that will allow our nation to create jobs, bring down prices at the pump, and make America more secure and energy independent.”

Interesting because every time we have an opportunity to make progressive change with environmental policies, they are the first ones to oppose them! I think the lingering thought is, what is it going to take for everyone to be committed to our nation’s desperately needed environmental policies?

    Gillian,

I thought it was crazy they way the accused the EPA of destroying jobs too! It’s as they don’t seem to understand the innovation and creativity needed to create new technologies, which will make more jobs! Yes, perhaps the jobs will not be menial, but moving forward with new technologies will make the US competitive in the global market as it once was!

I also wonder what it will take to get everyone committed to our nation’s need for environmental policies. If only they could see that even if cc weren’t happening, protecting our environment and being innovative can only bring positive changes!

I agree with you both. I believe that in order to move forward and to create a more successful economy, the job market outlook needs to change. Jobs must be created depending on the needs present in society and not on the traditional fields. Yes, having doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, politicians are all important, but there may be careers that we can discover to help implement a lower carbon emission and a more sustainable and green environment.

It does seem odd that some people are not realizing the tremendous impacts climate change is already having on the world. By taking small steps now, it can literally make a world of difference!
